Troubled Tuesday is basically my complaint day to complain about all the troubles I have, which could range from what is happening on TV shows to who knows what. (Writing this on Thursday, 2 days late.)
- At P’s parent/teacher conference the teacher went over what P knows. She said the only letter P knows is “P.” I wanted to say how many letters have you taught them already and the only letter she knows is P? If I were her I would be questioning why she only knows the letter P when she has already taught her all these other letters. Did I say that? No, my head was spinning and all I could do was say, “Okay, we will work on it at home.” If I had been on my game I would have asked the hard questions. I did at S’s conferences.
- S got assigned a project that has to be done entirely at home. This teacher gives so much homework that has to be done with the parent’s help. I already went to school I don’t want to do this again. I have told the teacher that she gives too much homework for 3rd grade. I am okay with the one page of homework at night but the math and reading work that has to be done for the month is crazy. It is over 150 minutes of math work and over 300 minutes of reading. The daily homework does not count as part of the monthly minutes. Where do you find math work for the minutes? Good luck parents because it is up to you. What about the reading? Good luck finding the right books that are at his reading level. Back to the project assignment. They want it presented in a slideshow on the computer. A slideshow for a 3rd grader! I asked S do you know how to make a slideshow? Nope. Okay, I guess that is another thing I am going to have to teach him.
- I am still a little dizzy. It comes in spells but I would say I am about 98% better. If this is how it is I can totally live with this compared to last week.
- I folded all the laundry from last week on Sunday and need to do it again today. Since I was sick B did the laundry for me but I still had to fold it and put it away. I just get it all put away yesterday and it is time to start all over again today.
- I started watching The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime and love it. Usually the TV in our bedroom gets the best reception for the Smart TV. This past week it has been buffering and not getting a good signal. The Smart TV in the living room is getting outdated. It can’t update and no longer can play YouTube and Hulu, and now it doesn’t want to do everything for Amazon Prime so I can no longer get caption when I watch Prime. The only thing that works okay is Netflix. There is no need for us to buy a new TV other than it can’t play certain apps. I wish you could update a TV like you do a computer or phone.
