When both of my kiddos were little, we made all of their baby food. After S we figured out some tricks and it was easier with P. We used silicone trays with P to make frozen cubes so storage in the freezer was much easier. A few years ago, I passed on all of my silicone cube trays to my sister. Recently, B was looking for some of the silicone cube trays because he wanted to try freezing chocolate milk so he could put it in his smoothie to replace milk and ice.
I really liked these ice cube trays when I found them. They each have a lid so there is no need to worry about the liquid (water or chocolate milk in B’s case) absorbing any other taste from the freezer or refrigerator. These ice cubes are huge. I put one next to a 1 cup measuring cup so you could see the size and then inside the 1 cup measuring cup.
These ice cube trays were meant to be used making ice of some sort. I don’t think the idea was so make these huge ice cubes and them put them in a blender to make a smoothie. B is going to experiment with the chocolate milk to see if it freezes just as hard as water. B likes the lid for two reasons. The first, is there is no need to worry about the liquid absorbing tastes from other food and the second is with the lid hopefully there will be less spills in the freezer.
