I have wanted chalk markers for I don’t know how long. I love the way they look. Nice clean crisp letters and designs and no mess with regular chalk. I didn’t have to worry about all that dust getting everywhere or my fingers getting covered in it. The Sansibal Chalk Marker Pens are the perfect solution. They come in 10 fun neon colors. When you write on a black chalkboard they are neon and when you write on a white dry erase board they are primary colors.
I have been wanting to make a chalkboard for S for his first and last day of school each year. I found this cute little easel in the Dollar Spot at Target for $3 and knew it would be perfect. I went ahead and wrote “Surviving As A Mom.com” in multiple colors and designs. The Sansibal Chalk Marker Pens have a 6mm tip and you can choose from a chisel or round tip. You simply change the tip by pulling it out and flipping it around. These markers come with 8 grams of liquid chalk which will last quite a while. The markers will wash of any non-porous surface and can be used on all non-porous surfaces, chalkboards, chalkboard contact paper, glass, tile, plastic, metal, whiteboards, card, menu, and bistro boards. I loved the way it turned out and could not wait to take pictures.
The trick to the whole washing the markers off is it will wash off any non-porous surface. It said chalkboard so I thought I was good to go. It didn’t work out that way I thought. I tried to wash the markers off the chalkboard with water and a paper towel. I got off some of the color but most of it remained on the board. I tried soap and water, and glass cleaner and it still wouldn’t come off. I was bummed that the chalkboard was ruined but then saw the black chalk marker and decided I would color over the letters with the black marker to get rid of the color. I did this and it worked great. I decided to wash off the black and hopefully what remained would cover the color. Nope all of the black washed completely off and the color was still there. What the heck? I did a little research online and it turns out that it has to be a chalkboard that is on a non-porous surface. What does that mean? It means the chalkboard I bought was created on a wood surface. So the wood absorbed the chalk marker and that is why it would not wash completely off the chalkboard. Lesson learned. I have yet to try these markers on another surface. Next time I am going to do a small check in the corner before I color on the entire board.
