When it comes to new toys/art & crafts for S, I am always looking to find something that is going to peak his interest. I found that if B likes to play with the item then it will for sure be a win with S. I asked B to try the Polly Plastics Moldable Plastic Pellets and see how they melt, mold, and harden.

The pellets need to put in water that is 140°. The pellets will become clear and start to stick to each other when they are heated. It is then they can be molded together to create any shape you want. When the pellets harden they turn back to a white material. If you do not like the shape you made, all you have to do is reheat the pellets in warm water.

B followed the directions, yet when he would get the pellets out of the water he kept on burning his fingers. He really questioned how children were supposed to handle this. B can handle items that are much hotter than what I can handle. So if he is complaining then there is no way I could touch these pellets when they turn clear. B made a few attempts at molding the plastic pellets into different objects and shapes. When he was happy with his creation he let me take pictures of it. He made a hollow star and then put a new set of micro LED lights we got to sample inside of it. It lit up the star a bright red and B is thinking about making a star out of these pellets for S’s Christmas tree in his bedroom.

I really liked this craft and cannot wait to have S play with it. He hates things that are hot and will not even touch his food if it is the slightest bit hot. I think this may have to wait a while before he is ready to play with the pellets and try to mold shapes. I am not sure I can keep these away from B.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
