Moms Meet selected me to host a party for moms about Fresh Express. I applied to be a Mom’s Ambassador for Moms Meet and was accepted last year. I apply for the products that are offered to sample with my mom group if they pertain to us. For example, I would not apply to host a party for baby formula because no one in my group has a newborn that they give formula too. Does that make sense?
I applied to host the Fresh Express Salad Party because really who doesn’t love a salad? Fresh Express was created in 1989, and was the very first ready-to-eat, packaged garden salad available in grocery stores nationwide. Fresh Express salads are thoroughly washed, rinsed, and gently dried, then sealed in patented “Keep-Crisp” breathable bags to keep their just-picked freshness, without preservatives. Fresh Express has a wide variety of products, including refreshing mixes and ready-to-eat kits. They also have a special USDA-Certified Organic line. Fresh Express salad mixes can vary in price, depending on the retailer, but typically cost between $2-$4 per bag. When we went to pick up our bags of salad they would be on sale 2 for $5 or 2 for $6. So it definitely fell within the typical range. Included in my kit was 7-Each for 1 free bag of salad, magnet, and information about Fresh Express 30-Day Salad Swap. I am not very adventurous when it comes to trying new food, so I passed the information along to the other moms.
There was some delay in getting the party kits out, so it took a while after I was selected before I ever got the kit. Once I got the coupons for the free bags of salad then it became a hunt to find where I could buy this brand. It was supposed to be carried at Target stores, but I checked two different Targets and neither had the brand. I had B check the grocery stores, Kroger and Meijer, which neither carried the Fresh Express brand. B did find it at Giant Eagle and they had all six different types of salad options. Since I am pregnant we looked at what would be most beneficial to me in getting lots of vitamins. B picked up Romaine and Spinach bags of salad.
For my mom group, I had a selection of veggies, and toppings to create a salad of their choice. I had all the fixings for a regular salad, taco salad, and my favorite lately Betty’s salad. You may ask what is Betty’s salad? Betty’s salad is a salad that was created in Toledo, OH and is mainly known in the Midwest. Instead of taking pictures of everyone eating salad, I decided to take pictures of Betty salad ingredients.
Betty’s salad contains spinach, hard-boiled eggs, bean sprouts, bacon, water chestnuts, and of course, Betty Salad dressing (you can make the dressing or like me buy it at a local grocery store). I don’t like a lot of food, so in my salad I had romaine lettuce, spinach, bacon, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, croutons, and salad dressing. The salad mixes are a great substitute during the winter months when we cannot get fresh lettuce out of the garden.
We really enjoyed the salads and many of the moms were excited to try the 30-Day Salad Swap. I am all for them trying new things. I, however, don’t think I am very interested in the Salad Swap. For the ease and convenience I think that B and I will continue to buy the bags of lettuce until we get our homegrown lettuce in our garden. #momsmeet #saladswap
