I applied through Mom’s Meet to try this product and review it on my blog. As a Mom’s Ambassador, I was so happy to be selected to review Dave’s Killer Bread. I knew I was getting two loaves of bread but had no idea what flavors they were going to be.
Dave’s Killer Bread started out in 2005 and quickly became the favorite organic bread at their local Farmers Market in Portland, Oregon. Less than a decade later, they are the #1 best-selling organic bread in the country. All of their breads are organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, and packed with killer taste and texture. Dave’s Killer Bread is known for its trademark explosion of seeds, delicious chewiness, and high-quality ingredients. But the company strives to be more than just bread makers they believe in creating lasting change for the bread industry, their communities, and their employees.
Dave’s Killer Bread is available in 12 varieties in major grocery chains across 17 states and parts of western Canada. It packs a punch with delicious flavors loaded with seeds, ancient grains, and whole grain nutrition. Each slice also contains as much protein as one egg! A loaf of Dave’s Killer Bread retails between $5-$6.
Here are some fun facts about Dave’s bread:
- You asked, and Dave’s Killer Bread delivered! As requested by several moms who participated in last year’s sampling, Dave’s added 100% Whole Wheat bread to their product line. With a smooth texture and a touch of sweetness, it’s perfect seedless bread for everything from sandwiches to French toast.
- Seeded Honey Wheat is the first Non-GMO Project Verified honey wheat bread on the market. With 5 g of fiber and protein, the sweet taste and crunchy texture of Seeded Honey Wheat will make it an instant family favorite.

- Packed with a whopping 6g of protein and 4g of fiber per slice, Good Seed has the boldest texture and sweetest flavor of all of their breads.

I received 21 Whole Grains & Seeds Thin-Sliced and Good Seed. Let me just start by saying I received this box on a Friday, opened the box to see what it was, set it down and forgot about it. Saturday when I went in the computer room I found the bread knocked off the table, one bag opened and half the loaf eaten, and the other loaf with teeth marks in the bag. Derby is a crazy dog and will try to get anything to eat. This was no exception. I never thought she would get into a box on the computer desk, especially because of her size. Somehow she turned into Superdog and got the box down from the computer desk.
At least there was enough to sample each loaf. As you can see in the picture of the two loaves I tried to cover up the part where Derby tore open the bag of bread (Good Seed).
We decided to eat the bread our favorite way……toasted. We like to make Jell-O toast. Jell-O toast is simply toast with butter and then taking Jell-O mix and sprinkling it on the bread like cinnamon and sugar.
Good Seed bread was very seedy. With every bite I took I kept getting seeds stuck in my teeth. I was not the only one; B had to get some dental floss to get a few seeds out. S tried the bread, took one bite and said I don’t like this. Overall, the bread was okay, but I didn’t care for so many seeds coating the crust and inside the bread itself.
21 Whole Grains & Seeds-Thin Sliced was good. I didn’t mind the seeds that were in this bread. I actually finished the entire piece of toast. B liked this bread and said that he would eat it again. S who is a pretty picky eater said it was good and finished his piece of toast.
Endless ways to enjoy Dave’s Killer Bread examples:
- Plain
- Toasted
- Add favorite toppings-butter, peanut butter, Nutella, or jam
- Hot or cold sandwiches
- Hot sandwiches-grilled cheese, tuna melt, or tomato and mozzarella with basil
- Cold sandwiches-turkey and Swiss, ham and cheddar, or hummus, feta and cucumbers
Dave’s Killer Bread remains fresh for 7-10 days. If it cannot be consumed in 7-10 days it is recommended to freeze. Double bag the loaf (place the bagged loaf into a second bag), and you can freeze for up to 3 months. Take pieces out to thaw as needed, toast directly out of the freezer, or thaw the entire loaf one day prior to usage.
I didn’t care for the either flavor of bread that I received. I would be very interested in trying the 100% Whole Wheat, Powerseed and Sin Dawg. I love wheat bread so that doesn’t really need an explanation. The Powerseed is made with pear, pineapple and peach juices. It says it adds a sweetness to the bread so I am curious to know if this will be more of a dessert/breakfast bread or a normal bread. The Sin Dawg would definitely be something I would like to try for breakfast. A bread with a cinnamon and molasses center sounds great for breakfast.
