Moms Meet selected me to host a party for moms about the new Beech-Nut baby food jar. I applied to be a Mom’s Ambassador for Moms Meet and was accepted last year. I apply for the products that are offered to sample with my mom group if they pertain to us. For example, I would not apply to host a party for baby formula because no one in my group has a newborn that they give formula too. Does that make sense?
I applied to host the Beech-Nut party because we have little ones in our group and even though S is four, I still make smoothies for him using the same foods I gave him as a baby. (I continue to make the baby food and freeze it in cubes to put in smoothies for S, not the same frozen cubes I made when he was a baby.) Beech-Nut is just real, whole fruits and vegetables inside new jars and nothing else. Inspired by homemade baby food: Beech-Nut baby food is 100% natural; it doesn’t contain preservatives, artificial colors, flavors, or ingredients, or any added water. Beech-Nut gently cooks the baby food using indirect heat so that none of the flavors or ingredients gets watered down.
I have to tell you when I opened up the packaging I could not believe the cute little boxes that the baby food came in. It looked like gourmet baby food. Each jar was individually packaged in a cute little box. When I started opening the boxes I could not believe the flavor combinations that were included. The only flavor that was not a surprise was the Honeycrisp Apple. The other three flavor combinations I had never heard of were Pear & Black Cherry, Pineapple, Pear, & Avocado, and Apple & Aronia Berry. I was so excited to try these new combinations.
Each jar was individually packaged in a green box with a coupon for $1 off 3 Beech-Nut jars of food. There were six jars of each flavor. The new shape for the jar of food is skinny at the top and elongates to the bottom. It reminds me of an eggplant shape. I liked that there were different stages of baby food so that the samples could be tried by everyone.
When we got together to try the baby food even the moms were excited to try the flavors. S really liked the idea of trying baby food and was only too happy to pose for pictures. Baby A happily sampled the baby food and ended up eating the entire jar.
The Honeycrisp Apple tasted very fresh. It really tasted just like the baby applesauce that I make each fall. The applesauce had a sweet taste that was refreshing and had you wanting more.
The Pear and Black Cherry was a combination I had never heard of. I make sour cherry baby food, but I really liked the idea of using black cherry. When the moms sampled this it was hard for most of us to find the black cherry flavor. There wasn’t really a distinctive taste that I could even say was black cherry. The kids did not mind and happily ate there’s.
The Apple & Aronia Berry was something new. I have never even heard of Aronia berry. When I searched the Internet for Aronia Berry I was surprised to read that this berry is native to North America. The Aronia Berry is commonly found in wild woodlands and swamps. Aronia is also known as chokeberry, due to its astringent flavor. The berry is now cultivated, and that cultivation is expanding in anticipation of the berry’s impending popularity. After reading about the Aronia berry I could not wait to try this baby food. Much to my dismay this baby food did not really have flavor to it. You could taste the applesauce in it with a little zing. If the zing was the Aronia berry, then I could definitely taste it. The moms and I were in agreement with the zing, and the kids liked it just like the rest.
The Pineapple, Pear, & Avocado I was most excited about trying. I was really curious to see what the avocado would taste like when it is in a jar and not fresh. I could not believe how strong the pineapple flavor was in this. It made the baby food really sweet. It was almost too sweet to eat more than one bite. I would say the moms and kids were split on this flavor. S was in agreement with me and had one bite that was enough for him. Others really liked it and ate a ton.
After our little tasting session, all of the kids and babies were sent home with a jar of each flavor combination to try again later. I have heard from a few moms that they took advantage of the coupons included and had gone out getting other flavor combinations like Mango, Carrot, Strawberry & Chia, Corn, Black Bean, & Amaranth, and Beets, Pear, & Pomegranate. This was a great little get together and everyone enjoyed trying new flavor combinations of baby food. I cannot wait until we get to try something else for Moms Meet.
Disclosure: I was selected by Moms Meet to host a party and review Beech-Nut Baby Food. The Beech-Nut Baby Food was given to me at no cost. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
