Manic Mondays are when I let you know what plans I have for the week. Some weeks I may be very busy where other weeks there may not be any plans. Since I now have two little ones to take care of I am going to post weekly goals for myself to try to hold myself accountable. I have also decided to do a quick recap of what we actually did versus what I thought we were going to do.
This Week
It was S’s birthday Monday so I was busy on Sunday with his party and Monday doing birthday stuff so I didn’t get a chance to work on this post.
Monday is S’s 8th birthday. He is taking a game to school to play with his classmates since they can no longer take treats to celebrate their birthday. After school we are going to do Build-A-Bear, and then he gets to pick dinner.
Tuesday is much of the same. S has catechism and piano lessons after school.
Wednesday we are going to decorate cookies after May gets home from school for Baby A to take to preschool. We are going to take my niece roller skating. S and P are excited to go. If my niece changes her mind we may go to Dave and Buster’s. We usually do something special for S’s birthday since he has it so close to Christmas. He asked if we could do D & B on Monday but I told him we only go on Wednesdays so he can play twice as many games.
Thursday we don’t have any plans. I want to try to make ornaments with the kids so we will attempt them after S gets home from school.
Friday is another day of no plans.
Saturday my other niece has her dance recital at night. P and I are going to the recital. She loves to see all the girls dance.
Sunday we have no plans. I am sure we will think of something to do Christmassy with it only being a week away.
Last Week Recap
Monday it was so nice out for December that we decided to go to the Lights Before Christmas in the evening. It was 54° when we got there and 52° when we left. S got on pink (behavior chart) which is the highest so instead of Dave and Buster’s I offered to let him ride the ice bumper cars at the zoo. He has been asking and jumped at the chance. Both of the kids loved the lights. As a bonus B let S ride the ice slides twice. P was too short to do either so we hung out at the bottom of the slide and watched.
Tuesday P and I went to watch Baby A and L for a while and B took S to catechism and then piano lessons.
Wednesday P and I went for a drive to try to get her to fall asleep for a nap. She asked me to take her for a drive. So we went to the bank but she ended up not taking a nap. She was close and I think she realized so she started dancing to the music to keep herself awake. In the evening, I went and did a paint class with my sister. It has been quite some time since I did one and really enjoyed it. We were there till 11pm. I have never been there that late before. I cannot believe it took us that long to finish the painting.
Thursday I can’t for the life of me remember what we did. I don’t have any pictures from the day to trigger my memory.
Friday P and I went downtown to get Chris Young tickets. It worked out great there was no line and we didn’t have to wait in the cold. In the afternoon I got my text message letting me know that I could order Taylor Swift tickets. I ordered tickets for my sister, nieces, and me. Of course the concert isn’t until the end of August but I was excited to get them. I got pretty good seat that are on the side of the stage and were cheaper than lower level seats at the back of the arena. P and I made the first batch of cake for S’s party after dinner.
Saturday I made the marble cakes for the party in the morning with P. In the afternoon, my two nieces came over to play and spend the night. The youngest is only 1 ½ and was so funny just walking around while I was making cookie dough and baking cookies. She was just a busy little thing checking out the dogs, cat, and toys. After dinner she sat in her little chair at the counter for almost an hour just watching me roll and cut out cookies. My older niece played with S the whole time and P just tagged along. When it came to bedtime everyone went to sleep without any issues until my younger niece did not want to sleep. I eventually had to give in and she ended up going home with my sister. After she left I ended up rolling out and baking all of the Christmas cookies for this year, 9 dozen mini cookies.
Sunday I worked on decorating the cookies and cake for S’s party. We then had S’s party. He had a great time playing with the kids. The best part of the party was when S was done with the cake, P made an announcement to everyone saying, “The party’s over time to leave.” Everyone laughed and when no one left she screamed, “I said get out, now (with a growl).” That really made everyone laugh and her mad. That’s my kids, when they are done with a party, they are done. While I was busy cleaning up washing dishes the kids watched the beginning of Despicable Me 3.
Last Week
Monday-This is going to be the warmest day of the week so we are going to try to go to the Lights Before Christmas at the zoo after he gets home from work.
Tuesday-S has catechism and piano lessons. P and I are just hanging out at home.
Wednesday-P and I are again hanging out at home during the day. I am doing a painting class in the evening with my sister.
Thursday-I think P and I are going to work on making Christmas and birthday cookies. The sugar cookies I make freeze wonderfully so I am going to make them now and then we will probably frost them in the next two weeks.
Friday-It is going to be a quiet day around the house getting ready for S’s birthday.
Saturday-I am watching my nieces all night and the kids are so excited. I have to make S’s b-day cake which is no big deal. I have done it before with the extra kiddos and they all just help or watch.
Sunday-We are going to celebrate S’s birthday because B may get stuck at work tomorrow which is his actual birthday.
