When we got married almost 10 years ago we registered for the traditional spice rack. We had the best intentions of always using it to keep our spices organized. Now 10 years later and I don’t know that we have ever used any of the spices. It has just been a display piece for our counters. I was always thinking how could I organize my sprinkles more creatively? I love to have sprinkles for every holiday. When I was working before I had S I always made treats for my co-workers every holiday and somehow would work sprinkles into the treat.
My sprinkle collection has grown so much that I buy more of the same sprinkles and do not even know I already have them in the cabinet.
With some help from S and B we decided to organize our sprinkles. B emptied all the spices out for me (I wasn’t sure I could handle the smells being pregnant). I soaked all the sprinkle containers in soapy water and then washed them in the dishwasher using the sanitize cycle. Once the hard part was done it was all fun for S and me organizing the sprinkles.
I needed a funnel to help get the sprinkles in the jars without making a huge mess. I simply took a half sheet of paper, created a cone, and secured it with tape.
From there we simply just started pouring the open sprinkle containers into the spice containers. Of course, some we over filled and a little mess was made, but that is why we poured them inside a container to catch the spill. I was able to combine sprinkles that I didn’t even know I had two of the same and both were open.
With all the sprinkles that I have, I quickly filled up the now sprinkle rack and had sprinkles left over.
The final product of sprinkles in the rack will make future decorating easier, and now I can quickly check to see what I have before I go out and buy more. B likes the idea because he said now he can add sprinkles easier to his nightly ice cream.
I love the way this turned out and when I was done I was so proud of myself. I had thought of this idea all on my own. I kept thinking my creative juices were really flowing, and then B said I should check Pinterest to see if anyone else has done it. What a bubble burster! I guess I wasn’t the first one to think of this, but I am so happy with my finished product.
