Foto (Photo) Friday is my show and tell of pics from the past week. Our Easter festivities lasted for over a week. It started the weekend before Easter and ended Easter night.
- This was at my mom’s the week before Easter. The kids had a fantastic time collecting eggs with these buckets. P rode around in hers and played with the eggs that we put in the bucket with her. P tipped back in her bucket and S was the first to run over and make sure she was okay. She didn’t even notice and wasn’t bothered. It was a bit chilly outside and a little muddy.
- Saturday before Easter we went on two different egg hunts. In the morning we went out to Whitehouse and hung out with my aunt and uncle. Now that they live in town, it will be easier for S to see his Uncle F. P was as happy as can be to be outside. Both the kids were too into the Easter Bunny to look at the camera for the picture. It took some conjolling from my aunt but she convinced S to participate in the egg race. When it came time to the egg hunt S was all about it. He knew exactly what to do and did not hold back when it came to getting eggs.
- In the evening, we went to the Egg Drop at a local church. We have gone for the past three years and S loves it. It’s not about what is inside the eggs, it’s more about the hunt for him. When they gave the green sign to go, S took off. We had to call him back because he raced past a ton of eggs. Everyone left the eggs closest to us and took off for the middle. When S figured out no one was getting the eggs all around us he turned around and started getting all them. He made out like a bandit. We got a ton of eggs and I am going to make egg garland next year with them.
- For my mom’s house we made Rice Krispie Egg Pops, and a two layer cake. I decorated the eggs with white chocolate that I dyed pastel colors. The cake was made for my grandma who is no longer alive. That Sunday would have been her 95th birthday. I ended up using the cake as my egg pop holder. I never got a picture of them together. I covered the cake in white chocolate instead of frosting, and it tasted amazing. Even B like the cake covered in white chocolate instead of frosting.
- I made Brownie Egg Pops for Easter Sunday. Again I never not a picture of it fully assembled. I made a foam basket from a craft kit and put all the egg pops in the basket to make it look like a full basket of eggs. I covered the eggs in marshmallow flavored chocolate that tasted amazing. I then did a second coating on each egg of colored white chocolate. Most of the eggs I decorated with sprinkles, but a few I used chocolate to decorate the outside of the eggs. They were a big hit and I ended up only bringing two of them home.
- S got to decorate eggs Saturday night after dinner and before bed. He asked me if the Easter Bunny will hide these eggs this year. Last year the Easter Bunny did not hide the real eggs because the year before the dogs ate half of them that were hidden outside. The kids Easter baskets were on the counter and ready to go when they woke up in the morning. S dug into his basket right away and P didn’t dig into her basket until after Grandma G & Grandpa Bob came over. B made S Easter pancakes. Can I just say that it seems like S forgot how to smile after he lost his two bottom teeth. His smile has actually changed and it totally looks like a fake, forced smile. The Easter Bunny hid all the dyed eggs out in the backyard and left a note telling S and P that they each had 6 special toys hidden throughout the backyard. P got 6 Mega Blok firemen to add onto her Mega Bloks fire truck that she has. She now has a brigade of firemen. S had 6 SpongeBob figurines to find and was so excited about each one of them. We only had one incident with the real eggs. I caught PJ carrying around an egg in her mouth and yelled at her to drop it. We figured out she got the egg off the fence on the side of the yard. She didn’t crack it or anything it was just funny. S also found a bike outside left by the Easter Bunny. When he saw the box upstairs in the kitchen by his Easter Basket he was excited and then ran into the room and said, “The Easter Bunny cheated me! That box is empty.” When we got outside he said, “The Easter Bunny left the bike outside. He was playing a joke on me!”
- After P’s first nap we headed off to my aunts to celebrate Easter. S had no problem putting on bunny ears for the egg hunt. Of course, S asked me if I brought his ears (their brown), because he was not going to wear white ears (he thinks there girl bunnies). Luckily, Aunt D, had blue ears that S was okay with. S made sure to count how many eggs he got. He said he could find 25, but if he got 26 he had to give all the eggs back and didn’t get any. While my other aunt was joking, S didn’t know that. When we were opening the eggs to empty them out, P just wanted to play with the eggs that had money in them. The more noise they made, the better. We finished off the evening at B’s aunts for dinner. S loves to go and play with his cousins. He loves when he gets to see his cousin L. The two of them can play together forever.
