Foto Friday-A Christmas Recap

Foto Friday is a show and tell of pics from the last week.  This is a recap of the past few days and our Christmas celebrations.  A little insight into how our days go.

In our house, Santa brings just one or two gifts and Mommy and Daddy bring the rest.  Because B works a rotating shift job from year to year it will vary on whether or not he is off on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Since S has been born we have always opened gifts from Mommy and Daddy on Christmas Eve and Santa’s presents on Christmas Day.  We can change the day we open gifts from Mommy and Daddy so that B will always be there.  This year I let S decide when we were going to open gifts from Mommy and Daddy.  He said he wanted to keep it the same and open them Christmas Eve morning.  So we opened presents Christmas Eve morning went to my mom’s in the early afternoon to celebrate and the in the evening we go to B’s side of the family.  Christmas morning we spend opening gifts and stocking from Santa, in the afternoon we go to my dad’s side of the family and then we end the day at B’s aunts.  It is a busy few days and here are some photos to show you how it all went.

  • I have always put S in Christmas pj’s the night before Christmas Eve since we open presents on Christmas Eve.  Yes, P has on blue train pajamas, but S loved them and she looks so cute in them.
  • S is so excited to open presents.  I think he likes to cut the ribbons off the boxes the most.

  • P definitely loves the camera and anytime the orange light comes on she looks right at it and smiles as big as she can.  We couldn’t wait for P to wake up so we started getting ready for Christmas Eve and when she finally woke up she got to open her presents from us.  She loved the Oball toys and went to town chewing on them.
  • Both of the kids loved opening presents at my mom’s.  P was more interested in the paper than she was with what was underneath the paper.

  • By this point on Christmas Eve, P was pretty sleep deprived, so she pretty much played on the floor with me by her side.  The minute I would get up she would cry like there was no tomorrow.  So we spent the majority of the time on the floor watching and playing.  We had a great seat for when the big guy made a surprise visit.  S would hang out with us once in a while.
  • P finally passed out and took a short nap.  She was happier when she woke up and it was enough to make it through the rest of the night.

  • In the kids gift exchange, S and L got the same gift.  They were both so happy to get construction vehicles.  They liked getting the same trucks.
  • More Christmas jammies for the kids.  On Christmas Eve, they wear the jammies Aunt C gets them.  P was in tears ready for bed.

  • We couldn’t wait for P to wake up Christmas morning so S got to open his gifts from Santa while she was sleeping.  The first thing he did was pick up the remote control for the car and start driving it around.  He was totally into the remote control car for some time and pretty much stopped opening his other gifts.
  • After he opened the rest of his gifts from Santa he went back to the car and sat to examine all the parts on it.

  • When P finally woke up she was so happy with her gift from Santa.   She loved the ride-on dog and kept pushing buttons on it to make it light up and sing.
  • Grandma G and Grandpa Bob got each of the kids a chair with their name on it.  Thank you Jen at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for the information. I found them on uglysofa.com and they did not cost near what they would have at Pottery Barn for Kids.  The tags on the covers were Pottery Barn.

  • S was only too happy to watch P so we could finish getting ready to go to my dad’s side.  He just pushed his chair up to hers and no problem.  They just sat and watched TV quietly.  S has sat in that chair everyday since.
  • P was much happier after getting a good night sleep and a long nap.  She looked so cute in her little elf outfit.

  • The day after Christmas we celebrated with B’s aunt.  P loved sitting around and watching all her cousins play.
  • S got a brand new big dump truck from B’s aunt.  Boy does she know what he likes.  This truck was big enough for S to sit in and he did so.  He was so happy to show everyone that he could fit in the back and sit to watch TV.

It was a great Christmas this year.  Both of the kids had a great time and it looks like Santa thought they were both very good kids this year.  P is just getting to an age where she is interactive and fun.  S is at the point where anything he gets as a present is the best thing he has ever received.  He is all smiles and very thankful and appreciative for everything he gets.  I can’t wait for next year!
