Foto (Photo) Friday is a show and tell of pics from the past week. I was busy making cakes and then decorating them that I never opened my computer. I have been busy and didn’t log in once to blog (except for last night because I had a deadline for a review). These pictures are a recap of our Easter events.
- On Good Friday I took the kids to get their Spring/Easter pictures done. They turned out great. P was hilarious and super photogenic. S is at the point where he doesn’t really need to get pictures quarterly anymore.
- Saturday morning we went to an egg hunt hosted by Mainstreet Church. Soccer was cancelled due to rain so why not take advantage of it. The egg hunt was supposed to be outside but due to it raining (downpouring) they moved it to indoors in the Lake High School gym. The kids had fun and were super excited to get eggs.
- This egg hunt was a little different than ones we have attended previously. All of the eggs were empty. The goal was to get as many as you could. Afterward we count the eggs and turn them back in for prizes. They were generic prizes but they both liked them. P got bubbles and chalk, and S got a frisbee and water gun (which is going to grandma’s).
- In the afternoon we dyed eggs. This year I wanted to try using rice. You take rice put it in a container with a few drops of color and then shake the egg around in the container. The rice gave the eggs a speckled look and I loved the results. They shook the eggs in different colors to give a rainbow effect. This was by far way less messy than the shaving cream from last year, and did not dye the inside of the eggs like it did a few years ago when we applied the dye direction to the eggs.
- This year the kids didn’t get anything “big” for Easter. There baskets were full of blind bags/boxes. Basically they have a chance of getting 1 of 8 or 12 or ?? of a collection. (Very similar to McDonald Happy Meal toys). P loves to watch them open the bags on YouTube and S is all about trying to get all of a collection without repeats. P also got a LOL diary which she loves to write/scribble in. S got a Slip ‘n’ Slide (he has been asking for years for one), and a Water Wubble ball. For their egg hunt in the backyard, P got to find My Little Pony characters, and S found eggs which contained pieces to a puzzle and money from the Easter bunny. The puzzle was a note saying the money could be used to purchase games on his tablet through Google Play. He is always asking me to buy him games and now he has the chance as long as we approve of them.
- We went to the egg drop at Church on Strayer Road. Much to our surprise Anna from Frozen was there. P was so excited to get a picture with her.
- Both of them were excited for the egg drop until we found out they could not do the egg hunt because the grounds were too wet and would receive a bag of eggs instead.
- The helicopter dropped some eggs so the kids could see how it was done. They were not allowed to go on the field and get the eggs. I like to bend the rules sometimes and I let the kids get the eggs that bounced over the caution tape. After they got them I kept moving the tape back farther to get more eggs. Then I had them step over the tape. Keep in mind when one kid starts the others will follow and boy did those kids follow. In a matter of a minute the kids had a run on the two police officers guarding the field and went after all of the eggs that were dropped. They got their fair share of eggs. Not as many as years past but they had fun and that is all that matters.
- I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning all the eggs because they were covered in muddy water from the flooded grounds.
Another Easter in the books and the kids had fun. Now it is on to me doing some Easter clearance shopping. I have done a ton in the past week. I have it all posted on Instagram. Check the right side of the blog to see them all.
