The elf finally came to our house. We start talking about the elf at the beginning of November. The way it works in our house is the elf only comes if Santa is not sure if you should be on the naughty or nice list. Last year the elf did not come till December 6th. We tell S when he is not being good that we will have to email Santa and have him send an elf to come and stay with us. This year the elf did not make his first appearance until December 7th.
Thankfully our elf is not a crazy elf. We don’t have an elf who does crazy stuff like toilet papering the bathroom, stringing lights through the whole living room, making snow angels on the kitchen counters, etc. I think you get the point. S is still very curious about the elf so he always has to be out of reach or I am sure S would be touching it.
Day 1-December 7th
The first day the elf came to visit us he was sitting right in the Christmas tree and S easily spotted him when he turned the tree on in the morning. At S’s seat where he eats breakfast was a note from the elf. S was not very original with naming the elf and called it “Chippy” but mom he said is going to call it “Chip.”
Day 2-December 8th
The elf is up on top of the cabinets hiding in the pretzel box. S said he thought that the elf must really like pretzels.
Day 3-December 9th
The elf climbed inside our entertainment center and is smooshed against the glass. The first thing S says when he found the elf is “Hey, he has suction cups holding him up.”
Day 4-December 10th
It’s not a very good picture because it was so bright outside that I couldn’t get a good picture of the elf. The elf is sitting on top of the front door. S did something and I said the elf is going to tell Santa. S’s response was he can’t see me from the front door. This kid is too smart for his own good.
Day 5-December 11th
We have a bird house hanging in the entryway to the hallway that S made at a build at Home Depot. We hung our mistletoe behind it. The elf decided to hang out in the birdhouse on S’s birthday, which I thought was a good idea so no kids could touch him at S’s birthday party.
Day 6-December 12th
The elf is hanging off the arms of our huge clock that hangs just behind the Christmas tree.
Day 7-December 13th
The elf is sitting in a John Deere cookie jar on top of the dog’s cabinet. It looks like he is driving the tractor pulling a mini wagon.
Day 8-December 14
The elf loved S’s little red car and used his ramp to drive the car up unto a shelf on the entertainment center. S thought it was hilarious and loved the idea of the elf using his ramp and car.
S loves the elf and we even added a little to what the elf does. We have an advent calendar that is a truck and if the S was good the day before the elf will leave a treat in the day for him. This year he has been leaving two jellybeans if he was good, one if he was a little naughty, and none if he was bad. So far S has always gotten two jellybeans except on his birthday he got three. When S asked why only two jellybeans we told him he can only carry one in each hand when he flys back from the North Pole every night.
