I am always looking for ways to improve my blog so when the opportunity came to review a book about successful blogging tips I jumped at the chance. To review a book that is going to possibly show me how to make money by just blogging, why not? I thought it was going to be an e-book, but I was surprised when I got the hardcover in the mail.

A book by Dana Sibilsky, called “Dana Sibilsky’s Tips to Successful and Profitable Blogging,” arrived in the mail and looked more like a small pamphlet then an actual book. I have no idea how long the book is because it is not numbered. I just took a few seconds to count and it was only 52 pages, with rather large font. Sometimes you can get a lot of good quality information in just a few words and sometimes you can get a lot of nothing in a few words. I wondered which side of the line this book was going to fall on.

I read this book in less than an hour. It was a very dry read and not much content was in it. I was hoping it was going to give me direction and specifics of how things work. Unfortunately, the only thing I got was generalizations of how to do things without actually telling you how to do them.

For example, in one chapter on starting a blog it says to “Research Available Web Hosts.” Before I did research and started this blog I had no idea what a web host was or what they did. Why do you need a web hosts? What do web hosts do for blogs? If I am still asking these questions then I guess this book didn’t answer them. When the book talked about web hosts it said to research storage space, bandwidth, domains and subdomains, features and support, mobile capacity, and installation. Why do you need all these things and what do they do for your blog? The book never said but has left me with more questions than answers.

There are a lot of books out there that do give some insightful tips on ways to improve your blog. I don’t think this is one of those books. It is almost like the author read a bunch of books and wrote their own book without actually having first person experience.
