After doing a review on another grill product I was contacted by Cave Tools to review one of their products. Of course, I love to review products, but when a company actually contacts me I feel like wow people actually do read this blog. I actually got to check out their different products and select the one BBQ or cooking product I was interested in. I could choose from a grill brush, BBQ tool set, digital cooking thermometer, meat claws, meat tenderizer, or kabob set.
I don’t really like many vegetables and of the few I like only a few on the grill. We have a great marinade that we love to use when we grill, so I was enticed to try the Kabob Set. B has made shish kabobs a few times and I really like how the peppers are cooked but still crunchy.
When I ordered the Cave Tools Kabob Set I received it in the mail in less than a week. The box was a pretty good size and surprised me. When I opened the set it was actually bigger than I expected. Now I just had to wait for the next time B made shish kabobs.
I didn’t have to wait too long. B worked in the garden and got a ton of green peppers, onions, and the last of the zucchini and summer squash. So B made shish kabobs with chicken, peppers, onions, zucchini, and summer squash. He made it on regular sticks and on the Cave Tools Kabob Set to compare how they cooked and tasted. There was actually another type of kabob skewer that we used but that was already done before I could get a picture of it on the grill.
We were using grill mats and placed the kabob rack on top of it. The kabob rack was nice to put the sticks on because they could easily be turned and not get stuck to the grill. B really liked the coin on the end of the stick that made it easy to remove the cooked food. The only issue with the stand is it was taking forever to cook the chicken. We ended up having to remove the stand and finish the kabob sticks on the grill mats. The other kabob sticks we used and cooked directly on the grill mat were done and we were just waiting for these. Once we got the chicken fully cooked, you could not tell a difference between any of the meat or veggies. There was no real way to tell the difference of how everything was cooked. I did notice that the veggies did not have any char marks on them.
Overall, I really liked this kabob set and plan on using it again. I think it would be great for making vegetarian kabobs. The vegetables are not overdone, still have some crispness to them, and are not charred. This is the perfect amount for a family grill night. If I had a kabob, B had one, and S and P split one that leaves enough for leftovers for B and me the next day. To me that is the perfect amount to cook.
When I washed all of this I simply put it in the dishwasher on the top rack and it all came clean. There were no issues with anything left on the sticks or discoloration. I cannot wait to try this again maybe using beef the next time.
