Carefree Crafts is a monthly kid’s craft subscription club aimed at kids 3-10. Each month you’ll get a curated package of fun crafts that you and your kids can assemble. Each month is centered on a holiday or seasonal theme, and once completed; the crafts become toys or decorations for your kids. The monthly subscription is $17.95/month. You can also get crafts a la carte so if you only want a few, or want certain crafts you did not receive you can buy them.
Carefree Crafts came in a padded envelope via USPS. I got the package in the mail this past week. S and I had been checking the mailbox daily hoping it would have come before New Year’s Day. It was addressed to S, so it made his day to get a package in the mail and not just an envelope.
When S and I opened the package he was so excited to see what crafts were included. Here are the crafts included for this month. There were 6 winter related crafts enclosed in the Winter Wonderland kit. It also gave a brief description of each craft and some fun winter facts.
Lacing Snowflake Door Hanger-I have a feeling this is going to be too complex for S and it will be done mainly by me. I cannot wait to make this and hang it up. It looks so cute.
Update: I colored the outer edges of the snowflakes because I really did want to hang this on the front door. S liked making this and trying to sew the thread through the snowflakes. He definitely got bored and I finished this craft myself.
Wooden Flower Pot Polar Bear-Once you make this really cute polar bear they recommend using it to play Huckle Buckle Beanstalk. I have never heard of this game before but it is basically hide-and-seek. I think we just found our new elf that I am going to have to hide every night so S can find it in the morning.
Update: S loved making this cute little bear and the only thing he needed me to help him on was tying the scarf.
Watercolor Snowflakes-I have been telling S that we need to make snowflakes to hang up in the house. I think S is going to love coloring the coffee filters and then putting water on them. He is all about using scissors so cutting the snowflake shapes and making a mess will be all too fun for S.
Update: S liked making these. I think his favorite part was dripping the water on the coffee filters. I didn’t mind doing this craft. A lot of newspaper got wet, but we had fun coloring, cutting and hanging the snowflakes.
Penguin Snow Measuring Stick-S loves to get measured every month to see how much he has grown in the past month, so for him to measure the snow and see how much we got is going to be a blast. We are going to get some more snow today and tomorrow so I think we will make this first so S can use it.
Update: S loved making this Penguin snow measuring stick. Of course, we had to use it right away, and have continued to use it and check the snowfall almost daily.
Tissue Paper Mitten-Again I think this may be a little too old for S to do and I may have to do most of it. I think it is going to look great on our window because S loves to open the shades every day so the neighbors can see our decorations.
Update: I dreaded making this because I knew it was going to be messy. It did not disappoint and once S got a little glue on his hand, he was done and I had to finish the rest of it. He was willing to put glue on the foam as long as he could squeeze the bottle from far away and I smoothed the glue out with the sponge.
Snowman Coaster-This is so cute, and I think S will be able to make this with minimal or no help from me. I can finally replace my dishtowel with a coaster.
Update: This was a fun little project we did. I told S he could make it for me to use, but he decided he wanted to keep it for himself and has yet to use it. S was able to do most of this by himself other than tying the knot on the scarf.
I love all of the crafts we got this month and cannot wait to dive right into them. If I could I would make them all myself but I do have to let S make them. I will put pictures of the crafts when they are completed, along with how S liked them so check back to this posting to see the final products.

Disclosure: All thoughts and opinions are all mine and a little of S!
I have a 3 year old and we are new subscribers to carefree crafts. I can’t decide how I feel about it yet. I really like the variety of mediums and themed months and of course getting mail, but I’m torn on the quality, value, and some tedious components like glue dots and separating the tissue dots.
Heather,
I was on the fence when I received our first month last April. I just thought it would be better and not all Oriental Trading crafts. The glue dots are hard to use and almost all of the project I have to do at least 50% of the crafts. I have kept it up because S loves to do crafts. Somedays we sit down and do three or four at a time and some months we don’t do any. I started a box and just keep all the crafts in there. There are very few months we have completed all 5 or 6 crafts. They are great little art projects to hang up around the house for holiday/season decorations. I still subscribe for the convenience of getting crafts to do so that I don’t have to think of myself.
