Carefree Crafts February Love is in the Air Review

Carefree Crafts is a monthly kid’s craft subscription club aimed at kids 3-10. Each month you’ll get a curated package of fun crafts that you and your kids can assemble. Each month is centered on a holiday or seasonal theme, and once completed; the crafts become toys or decorations for your kids.  The monthly subscription is $17.95/month.  You can also get crafts a la carte so if you only want a few, or want certain crafts you did not receive you can buy them.

Love is in the air February

Carefree Crafts came in a padded envelope via USPS. I got the package in the mail Wednesday.  It was addressed to S, so it made his day to get a package in the mail and not just an envelope.

When S and I opened the package he was so excited to see what crafts were included.  Here are the crafts included for this month. There were 6 Valentine related crafts enclosed in the Love is in the Air kit.  It also gave a brief description of each craft and some fun Love/Valentine’s Day facts.

Ladybug Valentine Mailbox-I think that S will love decorating this mailbox.  He is all about mailboxes, so to have one for Valentine’s Day only is something new for him.

Update: S loved making this mailbox and needed very little help.  He was able to do all of it himself and just needed me to tell him the order in which to put the stickers together.

Handmade Valentine Cards-S will be excited to make cards.  I am curious to see who he decides to make them for.  I am guessing Daddy and Frankie, but we will see.

Stuff Your Own Bear-S has been asking to go back to Build A Bear so this came at just the right time.  When S saw the picture he was excited to make a red bear (since red is his favorite color).  When we inspected the craft we saw we got a blue bear.  S was okay with it and I am betting he gives the bear away for Valentine’s Day.

Update: S was excited to make this bear.  He kept stuffing and stuffing the bear and finally told me to finish it because it was taking “forever.”  He did it for like 3 minutes and really was making little progress.  I was surprised at how small the bear was, but we did use all the stuffing.  S loved that the bear wore a bowtie and we made a vest for it with the felt included.

Beaded Heart Frame-This looks like a cute and super messy craft.  I love the idea of sticking the beads on the frame and was surprised to see the frame is ceramic.

Update: S was excited to make this, and I was thankful for the paper plate that was included to help cage the mess.  I put the glue on the frame and S used the paintbrush provided to smear the glue around on the frame.  I then let S sprinkle the bead on the frame.  It worked well and they stuck to the frame with no issues.  I brushed off the excess beads and now we are just waiting for it to dry.  S wanted to dry it in the mailbox.

Long Arm Gorilla-S is going to love making this.  It looks like he can do this by himself with minimal help.  S loves hanging things off door knobs so this is perfect for him.

Update:  This was definitely a 50/50 collaboration.  I had to do the brads for the arms and legs, and the Velcro for the hands and feet.  S was able to put the face and belly on the monkey with no assistance.  He loved hanging the monkey off the doorknob and then off of a kitchen drawer.

Ladybug Tic-Tac-Toe-S loves to play tic-tac-toe.  He is always asking to play it when we are out and having to wait like at a restaurant or for an appointment.  Now we will be able to play at home with no mess of paper and pens/pencils.

Update: S loves to play Tic-Tac-Toe and was excited to make this.  For some reason he was having trouble with the glue dots on this so I did the glue dots and handed the pieces to S and he put it together.

I love all of the crafts we got this month and cannot wait to dive right into them.  If I could I would make them all myself but I do have to let S make them.  I will put pictures of the crafts when they are completed, along with how S liked them so check back to this posting to see the final products.
