I love cake decorating. I don’t know where I got it from. My grandma used to decorate cookies and could always do the basics but nothing ever really elaborate. I inherited all of her cake decorating supplies when she no longer decorated cakes. When I was younger I also took some cake decorating classes which taught me the basics of decorating with frosting. Fondant wasn’t even a thought at that point.
Somehow tips always manage to disappear like socks in the washer. I was very excited to try this new set and see what was included that I did not already have. Believe it or not it is actually great when you have duplicates because you don’t have to clean tips when you switch colors of frosting. This kit included a ton of plastic bags which is so nice because I hate to wash the material bags. There was also 3 couplers, 30 decorating tips, 1 flower nail, 100 large bags and 4 smaller bags. This set also came with a blue tool that I had no idea how to use. It is called a decorating pen. It is actually quite genius. You use it to help steady and control when you are piping.
I cannot wait to try all of this when I do my holiday baking. While this is great for someone who is looking to get this for themselves, this would not be good as a gift. It is not packaged as a gift and may not appeal to someone who is unfamiliar with cake decorating. There were no instructions on how to fill bags or assemble them. A beginner may be lost.
