Black Friday Haul

For Black Friday, B did all the shopping while I stayed home and watched the kids.  We worked on our lists of what we wanted to buy the night before.  The first place B went to was none other than Wal-Mart Thursday night.  Menards deals start on Friday morning at 6am.  B was going to make a stop at Kohl’s on his way to Menards but overslept so he went after Menards.  Here are the pictures of the hauls from all three stores.

Wal-Mart deals started at 6pm Thursday night.  B got a call from his aunt around 4pm to let him know she was already up there and some of the pallets were getting ripped open.  B left Thanksgiving dinner at my parents and headed straight to Wal-Mart.  On the lists of items to buy were 6pm and 8pm deals, so B had to hang around until 8pm.  You can get some of the merchandise before 6 or 8, but can’t buy the items until that time.  B had all the items in his cart and was in line by 6:30pm.  Yep he really stood in line for an hour and half to buy all the stuff.  He checked out at 8:03pm and was home by 8:15pm.  He got all of this and spent a whopping $620.   I about died when he came home and told me that.

Here is a breakdown of what I got and at what price.

  •  The two big-ticket items were the soundbar B wanted for $198 and the steam mop I wanted for $39.

  • I got a new mouse for my laptop because my current one has seen better days and it was only $8.97.  B wanted two new micro SD cards for $5 each.  I wanted a cover and keyboard for my tablet and for $18.  I asked B to get Rio 2 for $7.96 and Frozen for $9.96.

  • B got two more sets of Rubbermaid for $6.98 each.  B surprised me and got me this wrap for $9.  I like it and might actually just wrap it for under the tree Christmas morning.

  • B got some hoodies for work for $9.75 each.  He also got five thermals for $6 each and a pack of socks for $9.75.  B also got four memory foam rugs for $3.50 each.  These are the best thing ever to stand on in the kitchen or kneel in the bathroom when I give the kids a bath.

  •  B got 7 boxes of Cra-Z sand for $5 a box.  He hopes it will mix well with Moon Sand for S’s indoor sandbox.  The flip phone for P was only $5.

  •  I love these books for the kids.  They have a ton of stories in each book and are really nice.  The books were only $6 each.

  •  This is usually how I normally get all the winter jammies for S and now P for the next year.  The jammies are only $4.50 each.  While P will have all S’s old jammies she still needs a few pairs of girl jammies.  B got them for the next three sizes, 11 pairs.  S got two Elf on the Shelf, two Minions, one Mario, and one Scooby pair of jammies.

B was going to get up at 3am to run to Kohl’s to pick up a few things and then go stand in line at Menards.  Well by a stroke of luck B got a wrong number phone call at 6:45am and woke him up.  He slept through two alarms.  Apparently, God really wanted B to go shopping at Menards, because how else could you explain someone randomly calling at 6:45am.  B got everything he wanted at Menards even though he did not get there when the store opened.  After all the rebates and getting the money for stuff he bought for others he spent around $100.  I don’t have the receipt so I have no idea what price he paid for anything and don’t really want to look them up on the ad.

  • B got himself a new jumper box and one for my mom to give my dad, a new step stool, flashlight, slippers, mouse (we are returning), four lightbulbs, and red organizing boxes that are free after rebate.

  • B got a new work light, an aromatherapy pig (lavender scented) for P, a flying monkey for the dogs, a laser measure, Kinex sets.  The movie was free after rebate, and on the bottom shelf was Monster Truck remote control car, two fleece blankets, two kids folding chairs and two dog beds.

The mouse is getting returned because I decided to keep the one from Wal-Mart.  I am not sure on the Kinex sets for S because it will be a few years and how many different types of building products do we need?

B stopped at Kohl’s after Menards (which I didn’t think he would do).  They were offering 15% off if you use a Kohl’s charge, $10 off any purchase and I had an in-store credit for $4.50.  I wanted B to get me a pair of boots I bought a few weeks ago for $34.99, and a light for S’s room.  Here is what he bought one of the arrows is getting returned.

  • B was supposed to get the 13″ arrow on sale for $19.99.  Well he didn’t know that it was the 13″ arrow and took the 24″ arrow to the register.  When it didn’t ring up on sale for $19.99, he had them check and there was a sign for $19.99.  So he got the $44.99, 24″ arrow for $19.99, with a $10 off coupon, 15% off, and a $4.50 in-store credit.  He went to a second Kohl’s to look for my shoes and found the 13″ arrow.  We have to figure out which one is going to fit better in his bedroom and return the other.

  • B can’t help himself and had to check out the Wheelies and Hot Wheels.  He got the Wheelie Car Carrier for P when she gets older, and the Hot Wheels for S.  B did manage to find the boots in my size for $19.99 at the second Kohl’s so I am going to return the pair I bought for $34.99.  That is going to save me $15!!

Overall, we got a ton of great deals.  Did we really need them?  No way, but how many of them do you really need.  B made out like a bandit and this is one of the reasons we don’t buy for each other at Christmas.  We just get stuff we want when it is a good deal.  It really takes the pressure from trying to find gifts for our birthdays, Christmas and other holidays for each other.

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be any great writer. So any mistakes that are made are my fault. Sometimes I mix up names B, S, and P, but I think you can figure out who I am talking about. If you find any grammatical errors just fix it in your mind so it sounds right.
