August 2017 Update

It has been a while so I had to look back at the pictures of August to remember what we even did.  I was super busy all month working on making signs for my sister’s wedding that happened in September.  My sister would show me a picture of a sign she liked and I had tried to recreate it.  I would spend hours on the computer looking for the right font and then had to work on making the sign with the right size letters and sayings.  I finally got them all right and then transferred them onto a large canvas or chalkboard easels that B made.

S enjoyed the rest of the time he had before school started and spent many days outside playing with the new neighbor children that moved here this summer.  There was a lot of riding bikes around the cul-de-sac and racing on scooters.  S also kept taking his diving lessons for the first two weeks of the month.   He perfected some of his dives and started adding half twist into his dives.   He had his first day of school on August 18th, and started the 2nd grade.  S was so excited when he found out his “busfriend” was going to be in his class this year.  He really likes his teacher and is excited to go to school every day.  He does not like that he has homework every night.

P enjoys going to the city pool every day and playing while S takes his diving lessons.  Some days she will swim the entire time and other days she just goes for a quick dip.  She loves to play with A (neighbor) every day.  If we don’t play together during the day we always finish the night out playing together.  P started doing flips on the trampoline.  She has been able to do somersaults for a long time but now will actually flip in the air.  It is a little scary because she is still so little but amazing at the same time because she is so young and learned to do it on her own.  P and I surprised B and decorated his truck at work for his 40th birthday.  B did not want a big party (which I was okay with), but he never said I couldn’t embarrass him at work.  Just my luck he parked right next to the work gate so everyone who came in and out of the refinery saw his truck all decorated.  We then made him two peach pies for his birthday with a 40 cut into the top.

As a family we had quite a bit going on this month.  We went to the Wood County Fair Demolition Derby.  The kids love to watch the cars hit each other and look forward to it every year.  It still amazes me at how much it keeps them entertained.  We went to a birthday party for a cousin and the kids loved swimming and jumping off the diving board.  Once P got started she couldn’t stop and didn’t until it was time to get out.  We had a solar eclipse.  While we didn’t go dark here we did get a little dark.  P was taking a nap so she missed most of it but managed to wake up in time to see the end of it.  S was at school during it and they let them watch it on a Smart Board in the classroom and were not allowed to go outside.  B and I went to Put-In-Bay for a Toby Keith concert at the end of the month.  Thankfully Grandma G stayed home with the kids so we could enjoy ourselves.  We took our bikes with us and rode all around the island during the day before the concert started.  Having the bikes made it so easy to get back to the ferry after the concert.  Everyone else had to walk but we zipped right by and got on the first ferry back.  It definitely helped to get us home earlier because the next day we had to go help decorate the hall for my sister’s wedding.
