Foto (Photo) Friday is my show and tell of pictures from the last week. This week Foto Friday is solely dedicated to a recap of our camping trip last weekend.
- This is what S looked like when we got to the camp site. He had that look of this is it, it looks like a backyard.
- Yes, our camper really is up on wood blocks to level it out. We girls were worried that if we moved to much in the camper that it would fall off the blocks. Not the boys, they said it would hold and not to worry. I guess we should learn to trust the boys next time because the camper did stay up on the blocks the whole weekend.
- S loved the campfire just to sit by. When he realized he could roast marshmallows over the fire he was all over it. We actually had to limit him with marshmallows otherwise he would have turned into a big marshmallow.
- I can’t believe I didn’t take any, but there are no pictures of us sitting in the camper all day while it was raining. Later in the afternoon when it was raining, the girls all went swimming. B and I went into town with S to get mulch to put over all of the mud in our campsite so we could just walk around without getting stuck in mud. Bonus was S fell asleep in the truck and took a nice long nap which he so desperately needed. While he slept I laid next to him and read my book.
- In the evening, we went to Mohican State Park to look at the covered bridge and walk it.
- B and S were looking to see if they could see any fish down in the river. S was convinced that a branch sticking out of the water was a snake head. It wasn’t and no matter what we said, he wouldn’t believe it.
- S was very cuddly and did not like the idea of sitting on this part of the covered bridge.
- Here is a picture of the covered bridge. The last time B and I were at this bridge was for a family reunion nine years ago.
- B was the sparkler police. S had no problem with that and stood in line to get his sparklers lit. He liked it even more when he got to do two at a time.
- Although this picture is a little out of focus, it looked so cool.
- S was giving his cousin Logan a huge kiss right on the mouth. I thought it was funny, and so did Logan’s sisters. Logan did not find it so funny and wiped it off right away.
- This is just to prove that the mosquitos were so bad, B is spraying S with OFF from head to toe. The little John Deere Gator next to S, he used all weekend. He loved riding this around the campsite and we made it his job to collect bark for kindling. There were a ton of sycamore trees so the bark was just peeling right off the trees.
- On our canoeing trip, S was so excited when he got a paddle that was just his size.
- We climbed into the van to take us to our drop off point. S got a little nervous in the van and had me hold him. I think the car was a little too much for him especially since he wasn’t in a car seat.
-
This is B’s cousin’s family who went with us camping. Since there was so many of them they took a raft so they could all fit in one boat.
- I did not paddle at all, and B had to do very little paddling. He basically just had to steer the boat. Since we have had so much rain this summer and had a ton on Saturday the river was really high and moving pretty fast. S’s job (or so he thought) was to use his paddle as a brake.
- This was the only wildlife we saw on the river other than the occasional squirrel or bird. This turtle was a pretty good size and I was this close to it (no zoom on my camera used) and it never jumped off its branch. B wanted to get close and then got a little too close.
- After canoeing back at the campsite when we were cleaning up S was getting tired and wouldn’t walk anymore.
- I loaded S into the truck because he wanted to go to sleep. Don’t you know when we got to the top of the hill about 10 minutes later, he was sound asleep.
- On our way home we say a rainbow. What a nice way to finish the weekend off.
All in all we had a great time camping. S had so much fun getting to play with all of his cousins. He is getting so much better playing with Logan and sharing with him. Even though it did rain all day on Saturday we made the best of it and the kids played in the camper. The best was by far the canoe trip on Sunday. It was so nice canoeing. The weather was great, it was nice and cool around 65-70° and partly sunny with a slight breeze. We couldn’t have asked for better weather while we were out on the river.
